A particular form of mortality table that is used for sub-populations that have been selected in some way.

For example newly commenced life insurance policies that have been subject to some form of medical underwriting conditions, or pensions that have started early on grounds of disability or poor health. Under these tables, rates normally vary in three dimensions: duration since policy commencement (or retirement), in addition to age and gender.
